On this page there are some examples of Fred's fine art of writing. Mind that everything you see here was done manually, in some cases just reproduced by photocopying.

For keeping at least some details, the size of the scans had to be significant. The loadable images are all around 400 to 600 kB, with the biggest about 630 kB.

Dedication of "Sixty-Four Poems"

My father received one of the 64 copies with this hand-written dedication.

"A Christmas Pudding ..."

Four pages in a wrapper, manually bound with thread. The poem obviously has me in it. I can't help but seriously doubt I resembled a young mandarin with good manners (except maybe for the developing overweight ...). The time that the poem describes lies probably in the early Seventies.

Christmas Card

A greeting card to my parents. The year is not known, must have been somewhere in the nineties.

"Japanese" Christmas Card

Annother greeting card from an unknown year. Attached on the sleeve is a reproduction of a classic japanese drawing. It shows a snow-coned village between rocks and ocean. A person tries to step through the deep snow, and more is still falling.

New Year Card 97/98

A reproduction of a hand-written original. The lines on either side are probably hard to read. On the left: "Look forward and sing oh sing"; on the right: "Look backward and sigh ah sigh"

Christmas/New Year Card 98/99

A reproduction of a hand-written original. The lines on the four sides around the dancing figures read clockwise: "Whatever are these fellows doing? * They celebrate Christmas and the New Year * What we jolly well wish to suggest is * That you join them and celebrate in a similar manner"

Christmas Card with Poem

Unknown year. Four pages in a wrapper, manually bound with thread. Attached on the sleeve is a reproduction of a medieval glass painting (probably from a church window) of a musician with a kind of violin.

Christmas Card with Tree

I HAVE to ask Fred about those dates. This Christmas tree (actually there are two) came for all of us in the family.
